About Me

My photo
I believe in being a part of something bigger, worlds out there in the universe that we may never see… Thats the energy and focus I give to my art. A feeling of excitement, joy and wonder. That's what paint, and that's what I want the viewer to see and feel. I love that ideas I have, can be put to paper or canvas. The feeling createing images I imagine, is an overwhelming joy.

My Fantasy Art Folder

A few years back, actually about 13yrs to be exact. I created a fantasy art folder project in school. I still have it and refer to it once in a while for old and new ideas. A few of my more recent paintings have come from that folder, with more I'm sure on the way.
Above is the drawing ready to paint I changed the arms slightly before painting, but I forgot to take a new photo before I started painting.
I stared at this for 2 days before I added paint, I even started another painting on the side. Only after a 1 layer wash on the other painting did I know what I wanted to do. Hopefully I'll finish this by tomorrow. Although I'm still getting over a yucky head cold and the housework is calling my name, loudly!

Finished Untitled

I cannot believe how fast this was. Only a few hours from start to finish. I'm happy with the results and have already started on my next painting. I'm still deciding on a title for this one, any suggestions. Have a great day. (Photo is a little green, need a better camera or editing program)

Parting of the Sea

Well after my last water painting tutorial, I am now working on my own idea with water again. I think I learned something. Fun! This is the final drawing from multiple ideas I was working with. I wanted her to be in control of the sea, then I thought of Moses. So, it's sorta like that.

Here is the painting in progress. What do you think? I'm only just noticing the perspective might be off, although, It's gonna be great. Well at least I'm happy with it so far. I will post finished painting photos tomorrow.

Water Lesson Tutorial

I finished the Stephanie Pui-Mun Law "Born of Sea Foam" painting tutorial today(click title to view original).
The lesson had 11 steps and it only took me 4 hours approx. The lesson was way easier than I had expected. Yay! In total the painting only asked for about 7 colors and no white! Which is something I need more practice with when painting my own originals.
This tutorial is in a book of Stephanie's that I own. I have 2 of her how-to books, and love them. You can check them out here at http://www.amazon.ca/. She has a third book coming out which I am looking forward to purchasing. I am sure you can purchase them elsewhere, but this is where I bought mine.
The water was fun to paint. It was nice to have some direction to go by. I think I would still need some photo reference when painting my own. There are still many other lessons in her books I am going to do. But this will be the only time I post one on my blog. You can view past and future lesson art of mine on my facebook FanArt photo album.
